Adventures of a Lost Soldier
CONCEPT, DIRECTION, STARRING Janis Povilaitis
DRAMATURGY Ondřej Novotný
SCENIC DESIGN Lucie Pangrácová a Julia Korotkova
MUSIC Eugeny Klimin

The performance is an ironic parable centered around a soldier who finds himself at war against his wishes. The production aims to explore thought-provoking questions, such as the extent of our responsibility for the violence we inflict, how to break free from our self-imposed echo chambers, and whether we are complicit in actions carried out in our name if we are not directly involved.

The show seamlessly combines physical theater, music, and elements of puppetry, resulting in a truly unique theatrical experience. This project is the fruit of a collaboration between the Theatre X10, the Divadelní festival Kutná Hora, and the Rekultur production platform. We are proud to have received support from the State Culture Fund.

HELL
This performance was created during the Radi Sveta Baikal Art Festival, with a collaborative team consisting of choreographer Sandra Lapine, composer Evgeniy Klimin, and stage-artist Alexandra Harina. Drawing inspiration from the Hell portion of Hieronymus Bosch's painting, the group crafted a story that explored the personal hell of an individual.

Working with a cast of approximately 12 performers and several volunteers, the performance was staged across multiple locations. The central idea of the show was to showcase the inner demons of the main character who strives to achieve absolute purity by eradicating all of his sins. However, the other performers represent his passions and vices, all of which are intertwined with his being, including desires for destruction, sex, food, and more.

This production offers a poignant tale of self-acceptance and the acknowledgment of the darker aspects of our personalities.

Virile
This is a play that delves into the themes of male sexuality, identity, and physicality. Through the main characters, who traverse the journey from childhood to adulthood, the performance seeks to deconstruct gender stereotypes associated with male behavior. The men are faced with challenges and obstacles, which they must overcome in order to reach their destination.

Drawing from the research of American psychologist Tony Porter, who introduced the concept of the "Man Box," a set of behaviors adopted by men in a patriarchal society, the play seeks to challenge these gender norms. Porter argues that the rigid confines of the Man Box lead to toxic masculinity, including aggressive behavior, suppression of emotions, and the devaluation of women.

The "Virile" is a thought-provoking attempt to break down the walls of the Man Box and examine how men's roles are changing in contemporary society. The performance is, in a sense, a #metoo movement for men, and it is a poignant reflection on the complex intersections of gender, power, and identity.

Skeleton-Woman. Ethudes.
The Choreographic Laboratory in the Center of Dramaturgy and Directing in Moscow served as the platform for the creation of this performance piece in 2018. Drawing inspiration from an Inuit fairy-tale by K. Estes, the production explores the possibility of genuine emotions amidst a dump where people are treated like trash. To enhance the experience, all decorative elements were made out of garbage, and the story was infused with Inuit elements.

The performance was created during a choreography residency and involved a collaboration between artists and musicians from the Center, one ballet dancer, and one multidisciplinary performer. All stage props were created by the actors themselves with the support of an art director.

Through its unique use of stage design and storytelling, the performance brings to light the theme of human worth and dignity even in the most difficult of circumstances. The piece invites audiences to consider the transformative power of creativity and the possibility of finding hope and beauty even in the midst of despair.
This mono-performance is a compelling exploration of the perils of perfectionism. The story centers on a character whose unrelenting pursuit of perfection leads to social isolation and loneliness.

The performance is currently a work in progress, with a portion of it already showcased at the Kutna Hora Theatre Festival in the Czech Republic in 2019 and 2020. While the piece is still evolving, it promises to be a thought-provoking meditation on the dangers of striving for unattainable ideals.

Doors Open Inside.
This videoperformance was created during the Covid-19 quarantine period and features a blend of animation, puppetry, vocal, dancing, acting, and more. It is based on the novel "Old Lady" written by the Russian absurd writer Daniil Kharms.

The performance was showcased on the Electrotheatre Stanislavsky Online Platform and has garnered over 200,000 views to date.
This is a documentary-style performance that explores the relationship between social media and ecology. While global warming has been a well-known problem for a long time, the Swedish schoolgirl Greta Thunberg became a prominent figurehead for the climate change movement. However, she also received a lot of hate from social media, especially in Russia. To address this issue, we collected some of the online comments and used them to create a play featuring two characters who kidnap Greta and have a discussion with her.

The play was created by dramaturg Lidia Golovanova, who wove together the collected comments to create a dialogue between the characters. We were surprised by how the resulting text sounded like a real conversation between people who couldn't hear each other. This work was important to us because it shows that the solution to global warming might lie in our ability to listen to each other.

We presented this work at the BRUSFEST, a Moscow-based documentary theatre festival, and it was supported by the Moscow Multimedia Art Museum.

The Prophet
In 2020, during the Summer Theatre Laboratory in Tolyatti, a project was created within 7 days of rehearsal and performance. The project was based on the super-novel written by the Russian poet Velimir Hlebnikov and incorporated the Rudolf Laban's moving analysis system.
Lost Prometheus. Version Oceanidas.
(Idea and Directing)

Project created by a team led by the idea and direction of an individual in Minsk. The project was conceived during the summer residency at the art-cluster OK16 and is based on Aeschylus' play "Prometheus Bound" and the myth of Prometheus as a whole. The central idea of the performance was to present this classic story in a contemporary context and provoke a reflection on the question: Do we, as a society, deserve the stolen gift?

The production was a collaborative effort involving a diverse group of local artists, including actors, dancers, a beatbox musician, breakdancer, classical academic singer, body-art artist, puppet actors, and stage artists. The performance combines these different art forms to create a unique and dynamic experience that pushes the boundaries of traditional theater.
